Eating fresh locally cooked seafood, with your toes deep in the orange sand of Kribi beach, watching the dark blue waves come crashing against the soft sand is what makes many Cameroonians believe Kribi is their little paradise on Earth, and it's not hard to see why.
We took our first breath of fresh air during our four nights at one of the best hotels in Kribi, Hotel Ilomba. During our stay at the popular seaside resort in Cameroon, we enjoyed the comfort of their biggest room, the Suite Palisandre. In my last post at Ilomba we had stayed in their second biggest suite, Ebene, which is right next door.
THE SUITE PALISANDRE
Palisandre is a suite for six people whilst Ebene takes up to five people. The six person suite has two bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. I will warn you the bathtub is a little problematic, as I had a hard time figuring out how to evacuate the water from the tub normally (I failed horribly and ended up flooding the bathroom…yikes!). The master bedroom has a queen size bed while the second bedroom has a queen size bed coupled with a bunkbed for the remaining four. It also has an open living room and a dining room, with an indoor balcony overlooking the living room. The difference one person makes is huge!
RESTAURANT: LE BAOBAB
We also got to discover the hotel’s restaurant, Le Baobab. The restaurant has two building, one near the rooms and the other near the beach. The beach Baobab specializes in grills, offering some of the best grilled seafood I’ve had in a while.
COMING SOON!
Hotel Ilomba is currently under construction, building a spa which will have an incredible view of the ocean, as well as smaller suites called Junior suites not far from the current ones. They are meant to have two floors, each one with a private veranda. The top floor will have a beautiful view of the ocean whilst the bottom will a small garden. If you're interested in the Junior suites sign up to the newsletter to find out more about what they'll look like and when they'll be open!
