July Sparks Au Pied du Courant

The “Village Au Pied du Courant” is located next to Jacques-Cartier Bridge. It has a great view over Île Saint-Helene (Saint Hélène Island) where the amusement park LaRonde is situated. The village is a reinvented public space conceived to be an “urban living lab“. Every year it's redesigned to experiment and develop new designs through art and entrepreneurship.

It's both Instagram-able and open to families and adults looking for a trendy/fun place to hang out. To top it off besides having to pay for the food and drinks all entry is free!

Starting in July, Quebec hosts an international competition of fireworks every Saturday. The fireworks are released at the rhythm of a soundtrack creating a show of sparkling and colourful lights.

I can’t remember which country was displaying their fireworks, but I do remember being mind blown by the proximity and the size of the fireworks. There were hearts, firework imitations, smiley faces, and more much to my amusement. It was far better than what I had imagined. I can say for sure that my finger never left the camera button for the 30 minutes that the show went on. It's something I've done twice in a row now, greatly enjoying the increasing level of competition every year.
